Jessi joined the Preparation for Work course in Rochdale in July after having completed the Prince’s Trust 12-week programme in April 2023. Jessi was a determined and committed individual from the very start to the very end of the course but needed some help into work. She didn’t miss a single day during the 5 weeks and got fully involved in everything that was set for her.

She achieved all of the qualifications included on the programme, including her Level 1 Health and Safety and her CSCS Green Card.

During the course, Jessi came to the conclusion that she wanted to become a joiner or an electrician.

Shortly after, she took part in a mock interview with Paul Wilcock and John Torley at Electrium for a Joinery position. Their feedback for her was very positive:

“A clearly well-prepared interviewee, who presented themselves very well. Clear passion and understanding of the role they have applied for. Eager to learn/develop and apply themselves. Understood the questions asked and clearly communicated a response to each. “

Our employment team searched the internet and found a job being advertised for a Joiner Apprentice with Guinness Housing. Jessi applied and attended her interview on 16th August. She was given very positive feedback from her interview and they said she did very well, with her currently waiting to hear their response. She also has another interview lined up with Quanta training for a multi-trade operative position. The team are confident that she will find work very soon.

When asked about her experiences with us, Jessi said:

“I enjoyed the people that worked there they were all supportive and amazing, going to miss my time at Groundwork but grateful they helped me achieve the goals I wanted.”
