Young person (Jane) talking to at the Prince's Trust final presentation.

Background

Jane was unemployed living in Oldham after being made redundant from her job working with elderly people. She came into contact with Jo, a Team Leader at Groundwork, who told her all about the Prince’s Trust TEAM Programme and what it could offer her, and Jane decided to go for it!

The journey so far

Jane says her change in confidence since starting the programme “is like night and day.” She felt supported by the Team Leaders throughout the programme, who helped her to control her emotions when things got difficult.

It’s hard to manage your feelings with 11 other people who all have different ideas and yours may not get chosen … but TEAM has helped me cope with this and understand you wont always get your own way in life.

As part of the programme, Jane completed a two-week work placement at a Nursery in Oldham. She was able to gain hands-on experience and build on the skills she had developed working with elderly people in her previous job. She was also able to build a routine again, which would help her in a future job.

Next steps after the Prince’s Trust TEAM Programme

Jane is now looking for an apprenticeship in a Nursey so she can become a qualified Nursery Practitioner. She hopes to secure a full-time job afterwards, so she can help and inspire young minds.
