Enhance Your Neighbourhood with In Our Nature

As part of the In Our Nature programme, Groundwork are supporting residents across Manchester to develop ideas which make neighbourhoods cleaner, greener and more energy efficient.

Projects centred around food, greener energy and enhancing greenspaces are all within scope for additional support and funding, although some opportunities are only available in certain areas of Manchester.

Below are a few examples of types of projects which could be supported:

Growing, Cooking & Eating

Want to inspire your community and loved ones to grow, cook and eat well? Project ideas may include:

  • Community cook book
  • Healthy, shared community meals
  • Low-energy cooking workshops
  • Pop up community cafes

Nature & Greenspace

Is there a space in your community which could become greener, more well used and more resilient to a changing climate? Project ideas may include:

  • Making an alleyway or hard surfaced area greener
  • Creating ponds or planting trees
  • Improving access

Homes & Energy

Are there groups in your community who are living in fuel poverty and would benefit from energy advice or changes in their home?

Our Green Doctor energy advisors can deliver energy workshops, training or in-home visits to drive change.

Social Housing

We’re specifically keen to work with residents who live in social housing on projects which benefit other tenants, such as:

  • Cooking sessions and community meals
  • Setting up a shared garden
  • Repairing, sharing and reusing projects
  • Walking or cycling sessions

Open to residents who live in social housing properties anywhere in Manchester.

Eligibility

Whether you’re an established community group with an idea ready to go, or a resident with a passion to make a difference, we’d love to speak to you. The programme is open to residents to live in the following wards in Manchester (other than social housing projects, which can be based anywhere in Manchester).

  • North Manchester: Harpurhey, Miles Platting & Newton Heath, Charlestown, Cheetham, Clayton & Openshaw, Crumpsall, Higher Blackley
  • Central Manchester: Gorton & Abbey Hey, Longsight, Moss Side, Piccadilly
  • South Manchester: Woodhouse Park, Sharston (Wythenshawe), Burnage, Didsbury East
