Case Study: Community growing site built in Heywood, Rochdale
Working with our our Landscaping Apprentices to transform a piece of unused land in Heywood, Rochdale into a community growing site.
As part of Groundwork Greater Manchester’s ongoing partnership with Rochdale Boroughwide Housing, our Landscaping Apprentices recently worked with the local community to transform a piece of unused land in Heywood, Rochdale.
In conjunction with Rochdale Boroughwide Housing’s Communities First Team the local neighbourhood were consulted on what they wanted the area to be used for and as a result a fenced off area containing a number of raised beds for community growing was created by the Groundwork apprentices.
The work was completed by the apprentices within 16 days with 20 tonnes of waste removed off the site.
Groundwork’s build & contracting service carries out a range of hard and soft landscaping tasks for housing associations, local authorities and government organisations across the country.
