Engagement Manager (Green Spaces) 

SALARY: £27,000 – £28,000 per annum dependant on experience

HOURS: 37.5 hours per week

CONTRACT TYPE: 12-month Fixed Term with possibility of extension

LOCATION: Torbay, with the occasional requirement to work in other locations across Devon & Cornwall.

Groundwork South is pleased to offer an exciting new opportunity for a ‘Green Spaces Community Engagement Manager’ to join our rapidly expanding team in Torbay.

We are looking for a dynamic Community Engagement Manager who can take ownership over a dual role leading a small team of project officers and take an active role in engaging and training volunteers across Torbay.

Torbay has many fantastic Green Spaces Groups already, including established Friends of Groups. You will need to actively engage more volunteers to join these groups & deliver the training that they need to become empowered volunteers, whilst also encouraging and supporting the creation of new groups.

We want to encourage more diverse resident engagement with Green Spaces through closer working with schools, young adults, community groups, health professionals, local businesses, sponsorship and corporate volunteering. We need someone with an entrepreneurial flair that isn’t afraid to investigate new ways of working and make things happen.

Key skills that we are looking for:

  • Fantastic engagement, presentation and communication skills.
  • An experienced team leader/manager, with the ability to lead a small team.
  • A community capacity builder able to bring out the best in every community
  • Someone with a strong community focus, to understand the local area and meet the needs of the local communities across Torbay.
  • Knowledge of and practical skills in horticulture, environmental conservation and land management.
  • To be able to work independently at a fast pace, managing competing deadlines and priorities
