About us

Groundwork is a leading regeneration charity, working through partnership to create communities in which people are proud to live and work.

Groundwork has been delivering environmental projects across the North East for over 30 years and currently has a total programme worth in-excess of £10 million per year and employs 250 members of staff across the region. The landscape team is based in Middlesbrough and also operates remotely, delivering a wide portfolio of schemes across the whole of the North East region – Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, County Durham and the Tees Valley.

At Groundwork we believe that real, lasting change requires a holistic approach that benefits people, places and planet.  Our landscape design practice reflects this, with every project having multiple benefits; for the communities who frequent the places we design, for nature and biodiversity and for the planet.  We aim to incorporate climate adaptation and mitigation solutions into all our landscape design projects.

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Landscape Architect to work within a collaborative team on an exciting range of projects throughout the north east of England. This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the development of projects from conception, through to design and contract management.

You will be confident, driven individual who wishes to design and deliver a wide range of schemes including major housing estate regeneration, public realm, community parks, habitat creation, river restoration, sustainable drainage and flood risk management.

This opportunity is for individuals interested in gaining further experience of all design stages – feasibility studies, visualisations, construction detailing, project planning and contract management.  A high proportion of our projects proceed from feasibility through to construction as our wide range of clients value the innovative design approach that we bring to all of our projects.

About you

We are keen to hear from confident, creative individuals with strong communication skills and proven competency in CAD and Adobe Creative Suite. You will have studied an accredited UK course in Landscape Architecture or Urban Design. Experience in 3D modelling, such as SketchUp, would also be an advantage.
