Come and join our successful team at Iver Environment Centre.  IEC is located within a stunning 2.5-acre rural site between Slough and Uxbridge. Though only a mile from Uxbridge underground station and on the number 3 bus route from Slough, our centre is a refuge from everyday life. With bee hives, several dipping ponds a mosaic of habitats, attractive gathering spaces and developing play spaces we are the perfect place to share your enthusiasm for the outdoors. Iver Environment Centre connects people to nature through school visits from predominantly primary aged children (4-11 years) along with family fun days, drop off holiday activities for children and activities for community groups.

We are looking for someone who is inspired by enthusing others and genuinely enjoys engaging children with nature to join us as an Activities Officer. The Activities Officer will deliver fun educational activities connecting families to nature at Iver Environment Centre (IEC), with some work at Denham Country Park. The successful candidate will deliver birthday parties engaging children with the outdoors through pond dipping, minibeast hunting, den building, fire lighting and crafts. They will also assist with family days, early years mornings and our popular drop off activity days for children aged 7- 11 yrs.

Opportunities to support with school trips and volunteer groups exist for the right person as well as development of education sessions.

The Activities Officer will be enthusiastic, creative and committed, with previous experience of working with children (a variety of settings will be considered) and an interest in the natural world. You should be a good communicator with excellent organisational and time management skills. In return you will receive training and networking opportunities including accredited qualifications in first aid and food hygiene.

Main Duties

  • To assist in the development and delivery of community events at centres, including but not limited to family fun days, early years workshops, drop off activity days for children aged 7-11yrs and community workshops or open days.
  • To deliver independently birthday parties at Iver Environment Centre which connect children to nature.
  • To assist in the development and delivery of our environmental education programmes for schools at Iver Environment Centre and Denham Country Park. (Predominantly primary schools).
  • To maintain equipment and resources used for education including the site itself.
  • To ensure the highest possible standards of delivery. This will involve CPD, self-reflection, securing and sharing feedback.

You must be prepared to work outdoors in all weathers.
