Senior Community Officer, Health

Location: Office locations in East Barnet and Waterloo. Some project work across Barnet

Contract: Fixed until end March 2024 (with view to extend, subject to funding)

Salary: £28,000

Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week

Groundwork London are seeking a Senior Community Officer, Health to shape and deliver the Barnet Health Champions project into its next phase.

The Barnet Health Champion project was launched in October 2020, during the pandemic, by Groundwork in partnership with Public Health, Barnet. Since its launch, the project has developed a network of over 250 Health Champions and create a mutually beneficial communication and events that enable people in Barnet to help their family, friends and community members understand key health messaging and local services, while sharing local health insight. In 2022, the project went from strength to strength, expanding its focus from Covid-19 to include wider health topics effecting local communities.

The Senior Community Officer, Health is a key member of the Barnet Health Champions’ team overseeing project development and delivery. In this role you will lead the analysis, recruitment / outreach strategies, events and communication platforms, and oversee production of communication assets from infographics to printed / digital media content. You will also work with the Project Manager to develop the network, build connections and raise the profile of the Health Champion project with Public Health, stakeholders, Voluntary, Community and Faith groups and Barnet Together partners. Share learning and input into the innovation of the Health Champions project to enable the project to evolve effecting and ensure best practice in engagement.

Key requirements: Please contact us if you have:

  • Experience in delivery of community projects, health projects and / or volunteer health projects.
  • Excellent team-working and leadership skills.
  • Experienced in client, stakeholder and partner engagement, and ideally working with Statutory and Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sectors.
  • Knowledge of Barnet communities is desirable.
  • Confident in using technology and analysing data to shape plans / strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills, including digital channels, and online and face to face event facilitation.
  • Creative thinker, motivated to work on a fast-paced innovative project.
