Hours: 30 hours per week

A unique opportunity for an experienced community engagement / development professional to join our well-established England-wide community resilience programme, Communities Prepared, focusing on the development and delivery of our community development and training offer to help communities build their confidence, skills and knowledge to prepare for, respond to, and recover from the threats they face.

Summary of role: As a Senior Project Officer on the Communities Prepared programme you will work closely with the existing delivery team, wider programme team, communities and partners nationwide to design and deliver tailored training and support packages for community volunteers on a range of topics – from climate-related weather events to the sustainability of community volunteer groups. The programme’s offer is tailored to local needs, helping communities to develop action plans based on their local knowledge, assist the emergency services and support the community, as well as serve a vital purpose in early warning, reassurance and support for vulnerable people. We offer training and support both online and in-person, and therefore the role includes potential travel across England.

We’re looking for someone who’s passionate about community development and resilience, confident engaging with people from a wide range of backgrounds, and comfortable managing your own projects while also working collaboratively with the team and wider stakeholders.
