Mercury Road Garage Redevelopment - Have your say!

Hounslow Council and environmental charity Groundwork London are working together to redevelop the Mercury Road area currently occupied by garages. The garages have come to the end of their life and the area will be developed to provide an attractive and functional space for local residents to enjoy.  

We are keen to hear from as many residents as possible to ensure improvements meet your priorities, needs and aspirations. With your help, we can create a fantastic community space for you and your neighbours to enjoy.

What’s planned? 

The garages will be removed and will be redeveloped to provide a resource for as many local residents as possible- initial ideas include a pocket park:  an attractive green space for relaxation, socialising and play, as well as car parking spaces. Or you might have other ideas? 

No decisions have been made regarding how the area will be developed & we’d love to hear your ideas. 

Once we’ve collected your ideas, Groundwork’s designers will develop a sketch design showing what improvements could look like. We will show this to you for further comment in the summer.

About the Project

We need your ideas and views, making sure we cover all needs and aspirations. The designs will be developed based on residents’ comments and feedback, so please have your say. 

Here are some themes to consider: 

• Creating a beautiful green space with a variety of plants, colours and textures
• Creating space for nature to attract birds, bees and butterflies 
• Creating healthy spaces that improve well-being: a green oasis near your home
• Creating attractive social spaces to spend time with the family, friends and neighbours
• Informal play features for children
• Opportunities for quiet, informal recreation, nature study and watching the world go by
• Seating and features to make spaces feel unique and special
• Car parking spaces 
• Or something else? We need you to tell us what needs doing.

We will update this website in the summer with the initial concept design for the space & how we have acted on what residents have told us . Please check back here to see the designs and have your say on the proposals for your area. We will send residents in nearby houses a copy of the design.
