About our Green Space Volunteering Programme

OPDC, in partnership with Groundwork, the London Borough of Brent and the London Borough of Ealing, have launched a new stewardship and volunteering programme for public green spaces in Old Oak and Park Royal.

The programme will include activities and strategies to encourage all members of the community to get involved and improve the green spaces in the Old Oak and Park Royal area.

We will be running an exciting programme of volunteering sessions to improve the appearance and biodiversity of Old Oak and Park Royal.

Greener Together: Get involved to improve Green, Grey and Open Spaces in your Area

Do you know a space in Park Royal that is in need of improvement and revitalisation? Is there a space next to your workplace that could be a perfect spot for your lunch break?

Let us know your ideas! The spaces could include a neglected planting bed, an unused or unkempt space that would benefit from more colour and greening, a boring grass verge in need of some seating, or maybe you’d like to see more wildflowers and opportunities for bulb planting – all ideas are welcome.

Old Oak Parks: What Improvements Would you Like to See?

Would you like to join the Greenspace Stewardship Volunteering Programme? Do you enjoy using the local parks and would like to work with us to improve the appearance, facilities, value and safety of our green spaces?

We recognise the importance of our local parks for the enjoyment, health and well-being of our communities. OPDC are looking to revitalise Wesley Playing Fields and Cerebos Gardens over the coming months. Based on your ideas, OPDC’s Community Gardener will run regular hands-on volunteering sessions, including bulb planting, clearance, bird box making, to help enhance the quality and biodiversity of our green spaces. Activities will be suitable for all, no previous experience is required and all tools are provided. It’s a great opportunity to learn and share skills, meet new people, have lots of fun and make a real difference to your local community.

We will run initial sessions soon: register your interest by emailing greenertogether@groundwork.org.uk.

How to Get Involved

If you’d like to take part in this programme, register your interest by emailing greenertogether@groundwork.org.uk.

We will review all suggestions and select a range of spaces to improve this Autumn/Winter 2022. Once we have identified initial projects, we will run regular practical volunteering sessions to turn your ideas into reality.

You may also share your ideas for these spaces using the interactive map. You may have ideas on planting and greenery, integrated seating, opportunities for play, vegetation areas in need of cleaning up, tidying or pruning.
