Smarter Home Visits
Helping households and businesses save water in London.
Why Save Water?
London and the South-East have been designated as areas of ‘Serious Water Stress’ by the UK Government’s Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA). Water supplies are being stretched further each day as the population continues to grow. It’s estimated that by 2040, if we keep using water as we are today, we’ll need an extra 400 million litres a day. One of the solutions is for households and businesses to use water more wisely today, to collectively help prevent severe water shortages in the future.
How We Can help
That’s where we come in. Working in partnership with Thames Water, we offer free Smarter Home Visits to qualifying customers in the London area to help them reduce their water use and save money.
During the visit we can offer water-saving advice and fit simple devices in your home for free, all of which cut your water use, without you even noticing. These include:
- efficient shower heads
- tap aerators
- cistern displacers
We can also refer household leaks to our plumbing repair service for free.
Our Impact
Small changes have a huge impact.
Last year in London we helped 55,000 households fitting 162,500 water-saving devices for free. These households saved an average £180 last year on their combined water and energy bills. For London, that’s a much needed collective saving of 4.3 million litres of water every day.
What if I Own a Business?
We also offer commercial customers Smarter Business Visits. Last year we worked with 2,800 businesses across London, carrying out plumbing repairs and water-saving modifications to their premises, helping them collectively save 6.7 million litres of water a day.
