Join us on Thursdays from 10am–1pm

Lloyd Park, E17 4PP

We are a friendly, relaxed group who meet on Thursdays throughout the year to look after this special historic garden!

Sessions are led by our knowledgeable and supportive Community Gardener, who prepares a variety of seasonal tasks each week. There is always something satisfying to get stuck into, whether you are a confident gardener or completely new to it.

Volunteering with us is a chance to:

  • Meet new people and be part of a supportive community
  • Improve your health and wellbeing through gentle outdoor activity
  • Learn new gardening skills and plant knowledge (no experience needed)
  • Spend time outdoors, surrounded by nature
  • Take pride in caring for a much-loved local park

Sessions run every week, with a relaxed tea break halfway through and free refreshments provided.

Please wear sturdy shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting muddy. We are happy to provide sturdy footwear and waterproofs if needed.

Whether you come every week or just occasionally, you will be very welcome!

Not sure if volunteering is for you? Hear from one of our regular volunteers!

My name is Onitha and I joined just after lockdown. I needed to use my brain a little bit. I’d been looking after my mum for ages and I just found that I was getting more and more isolated. You kind of lose a bit of yourself in a way… So, I knew I had to do something, and I thought any other course would be really boring! I did art and I enjoyed that, but I thought… “What is really physical but creative at the same time? And it was the gardening. Once I got into it, I’ve not looked back at all.”

Onitha shares her story about how she got into volunteering at Lloyd Park and the benefits this experience has given her.
