Waltham Forest Giving Launches New Wellbeing Grants to Fund Community Health Projects

A new wellbeing grant scheme will support local people who have bright ideas about how to boost health and wellbeing in their community.

The Waltham Forest Giving Wellbeing Fund offers grants of up to £2000 to individuals and groups of residents and grassroots organisations who want to make a positive impact on health and wellbeing in their local community.

Waltham Forest Giving is an independent initiative, funded by City Bridge Foundation and hosted by Groundwork London. The Fund is a joint project between Waltham Forest Giving and Waltham Forest Council’s Community Health Champions.

Waltham Forest Giving, in collaboration with Waltham Forest Community Health Champions, are launching a new wellbeing grant scheme to support local people with bright ideas to boost health and wellbeing in their community.

Waltham Forest Giving raises and distributes funds and resources to help local organisations support the people in our borough. It is an independent initiative, hosted by Groundwork London, which connects and enthuses local people, businesses and organisations to address local needs.

Community Health Champions are a network of people who live, work or study in the borough and are passionate about the health and wellbeing of their community.

They have come together to offer grants of up to £2000, which are available to individual residents, informal groups and grassroots organisations who want to make a positive impact on health and wellbeing in their local community.

Whether it’s a food initiative, exercise group or creative activity, the scheme is here to bring local projects that improve wellbeing, support people to maintain good health, and prevent illness in life.

The Fund not only aims to tackle immediate local health and wellbeing challenges but also helps create the conditions for long-term, positive outcomes within the borough’s diverse communities. The scheme aims to reach underrepresented groups and ensure that all corners of Waltham Forest feel empowered to take part.

“We know that local people are best placed to understand what their neighbours need”, says Charlie from Waltham Forest Giving. “This fund is about trusting and empowering communities to take care of each other. We want to support individuals and small grassroots groups in this borough that may struggle to access funding elsewhere. We’re so excited to launch our first grant scheme that will help tackle health inequality in Waltham Forest.”

Support is available through Waltham Forest Giving for those who may need help with their ideas or filling in forms. They will also be running online Q&A sessions for those who want to apply, to find out more. More information can be found on the Waltham Forest Giving Webpage.

The fund will open up for applications from Tuesday 24th June until Monday 28th July.
