The People's Patch Coventry
Welcome to The People’s Patch Coventry
The People’s Patch Coventry is our first Green Community Hub project, aiming to bring community members together in a welcoming, outdoor environment. Since May 2025, we have worked with community members and CV Life to transform a once derelict, overgrown, and neglected space, into a thriving community space for all to enjoy. The space is located at the Alan Higgs Centre, between the two wards of Binley and Willenhall, where it provides an opportunity for people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities to get outdoors, connect with other members of the community, and contribute towards this valuable community resource. We are very lucky to have such a fantastic team of community volunteers, who bring creative ideas and perspectives to our weekly Thursday and Sunday sessions. There are lots of exciting plans for The People’s Patch Coventry, read on below to find more ways to get involved and share your ideas!

Sessions

Alex, 24, has been volunteering at The People’s Patch since the project started up in May.
Before coming to The People’s Patch, Alex wouldn’t have said he was a gardener. However, Alex has found his love for gardening by coming along on our Thursday volunteer sessions. Alex has now become our most regular volunteer, attending 19 of our 26 Thursday sessions so far!
Alex regularly describes these sessions as the “highlight of the week”. Alex says he has really enjoyed the opportunity to get out of the house and connect with the community. His favourite activities at The People’s Patch include using a drill to build raised beds and planting bulbs.
Alex says that the Thursday sessions have had a “positive impact on his mental health”, by allowing him to get outdoors, connect with people, and develop new skills. Further to this, Alex said that his self-confidence has improved over the time he has been volunteering with us.
