“Energyworks go above and beyond to support people” – Brenda’s Story
Brenda, a housing association tenant and mother of two young children, was referred to Energyworks for energy advice and home efficiency support.
Brenda lives with significant health challenges, including a collapsed trachea and ongoing respiratory issues following COVID-19. As a vulnerable resident who relies on refrigerated medication, maintaining a warm, healthy, and affordable home environment is particularly important for her family’s wellbeing.
During her initial consultation, Brenda explained that she was struggling with several issues in her home, including difficulties using her thermostat, persistent draughts, damp and mould, and rising energy costs. Although she urgently needed support, she admitted she had been reluctant to ask for help.

Energyworks Advisor Hamzah visited Brenda at home to provide practical support and energy-saving measures. During the visit, he showed her how to use and programme her thermostat effectively, fitted nine LED light bulbs and five radiator reflector panels, and shared tailored energy-saving advice. This included using appliances such as the dishwasher on economy settings and reducing the thermostat by just one degree, a change that alone could save more than £100 per year on energy bills.
Following the visit, Brenda reported a significant improvement in both the comfort of her home and her confidence in managing her energy use. She said her property now feels much warmer and that her experience with her housing provider has become more positive and effective since receiving support.
Brenda said:
“Excellent service that needs bigging up. You have helped so much. I really appreciate that your team have continued to follow up with calls. Energyworks go above and beyond to support people, which is exactly what we need more of from organisations.”
