Wellbeing Fun Day at Stoneyfield Park

Residents enjoyed a day of outdoor activities, health advice and community connection at a Community Fun Day held in Stoneyfield Park in Rochdale on the 19th August 2026.

The event was organised by Groundwork alongside local volunteers from the Stoneyfield Park Friends Group, bringing together a range of organisations and activities focused on wellbeing, sustainability and helping people make the most of their local green space.

Visitors of all ages took part in a variety of activities throughout the day. A popular attraction was the smoothie bike, where participants could choose their own fruit before hopping on a bicycle-powered blender to create a healthy smoothie.

Families also enjoyed outdoor games and interactive activities exploring climate resilience and the ways communities can adapt to environmental challenges.

Local support services were on hand to offer practical advice and guidance. The Live Well team provided free community health checks, while Groundwork’s Green Doctors offered energy advice and support to help residents reduce energy costs and improve efficiency in their homes.

The Active Rochdale team encouraged visitors to get active by bringing ball games and bicycles to the park for children to play with.

A local community organisation, Awakening Minds, opened their doors opposite the park to provide toilet facilities, hot drinks, and an indoor space to sit.

Adding a creative element to the day, residents were able to receive free henna designs, while a local artist and poet engaged visitors in conversations about journeys, experiences and connections. The stories and reflections collected during the event will later be transformed into a community-inspired poem.

The event was also attended by MP for Rochdale, Paul Waugh, who met with members of the Friends Group to learn more about their work and their ongoing efforts to improve and promote Stoneyfield Park.
