Hope for Cheetham
Duration: July 2026
Background
Thanks to funding from Young Manchester, young people in Cheetham Hill have co-created a programme of activity that Groundwork’s Youth Workers will be delivering which includes a youth club, 1-2-1 coaching and social action projects.
A Youth Designed Programme
While creating the plan for this project, our team consulted with local young people to understand what they want. Feedback we received included:
- A safe space to socialise, develop new skills and feel that they belong
- Time with trusted adults to explore their feelings and develop behaviours that will support them for life
- A chance to make an impact on their community, supporting changes and finding solutions to the problems they see

What Groundwork will be doing
As requested by local young people, Groundwork will be combining three of our previously successful youth work activities and delivering them all in Cheetham Hill.
These include:
• Achievement Coaching
• Open access universal youth work (youth club)
• Environmental social action.
This will include an exclusive youth club at the New Church of God community centre, a ‘community safety project’ during the summer holidays, and a variety of different activities from sports to dance and trips.
