Duration: January 2023- December 2024

Background

The SAFE Task Force is a government program targeted at young people at risk of being drawn into Serious Youth Violence. Research shows that in Manchester, many incidents happen in unsupervised places, such as parks, shop parades, tram and bus stops.

What we’re doing

Working with local schools in North and East Manchester, we are supporting young people to fulfil their potential. Working with them to create positive opportunities to attend school regularly, become more involved in the community and develop a sense of belonging . Reducing the likelihood of negative behaviours and prevent costly poor life outcomes by inspiring them to exceed their expectations.

Groundwork through Manchester SAFE Taskforce creates interventions for those at risk in order to:

  • Reduce involvement in serious violence
  • Improve social emotional regulation and well-being
  • Improve attendance
  • Improve behaviour in school and their local areas

Our mentors will help to bridge the gap between:

  • Young people and their school
  • School and home/family
  • Young people and community resources
