Before joining the Green Jobs Pathfinder programme, Amy was attending a Level 2 Electrical Installation course at college. Intrigued by understanding how things work, Amy decided she wanted to pursue a career in electrics and gain some work experience.

She started a work placement with EDGE EPC, where she learned all about electrical installation, retrofit, structural work, bricklaying and safety protocols. Amy feels this has helped her expand her skills for her CV, and has boosted her confidence as a woman working in a male dominated industry.

After finishing the programme and with support from our programme manager, Amy went on to successfully secure an apprenticeship at Electricity North West, building on her growing skills and experience.

When asked how Groundwork helped her, she said:

Groundwork has played a crucial role in shaping my skills and knowledge

Amy also shared some thoughts about her experience so far with Electricity North West:

I’m nearly a month in and it’s a lot of information so it can be overwhelming but I’m enjoying it! I’m currently doing some training at their hub in Blackburn for 3 weeks.
