Chelsea’s Story

Salford

Chelsea is 27 and from Salford. She left school with basic GCSEs and initially built her career in the care sector. In recent years, Chelsea had to step away from work due to health issues and personal circumstances. Now ready to re-enter the workforce, Chelsea was seeking a fresh start. She discovered our Multi-Skilled Property Maintenance Programme for Women, delivered through the Elevate Salford programme. She enrolled in the 8-week construction programme, motivated by a desire for a new career challenge in construction, though initially unsure which trade to pursue.

Through the course, Chelsea successfully:

  • Acquired essential property maintenance skills.
  • Gained the opportunity to move into employment in repairs.
  • Completed Health and Safety Level 1 training.
  • Obtained her Green Labour CSCS card, furthering her credentials for a career in construction.

Chelsea described her time on the course as highly supportive and inclusive, particularly accommodating her medical conditions. She valued the opportunities, guidance, and practical skills the programme provided. Chelsea is now confidently moving forward in her new career path with clear goals and prospects.

Amy’s Story

Trafford

Before joining the Green Jobs Pathfinder programme, Amy was attending a Level 2 Electrical Installation course at college. Intrigued by understanding how things work, Amy decided she wanted to pursue a career in electrics and gain some work experience.

She started a work placement with EDGE EPC, where she learned all about electrical installation, retrofit, structural work, bricklaying and safety protocols. Amy feels this has helped her expand her skills for her CV, and has boosted her confidence as a woman working in a male dominated industry.

After finishing the programme and with support from our programme manager, Amy went on to successfully secure an apprenticeship at Electricity North West, building on her growing skills and experience.
