Join Groundwork’s Retrofit training and gain your City & Guilds Level 2 Award in Retrofit plus other essentials skills and qualifications, including Carbon Literacy.

What’s the course about?

This is a great course to complete if you are interested in working in the construction industry and learning more about the range of opportunities available in retrofit work.

You will also gain an understanding of the different roles involved in retrofit and the specific responsibilities linked to each role.

This award helps you build a basic awareness of the retrofit industry. It can be a starting point for career progression, allowing you to move into professional roles or work as an installer, assessor, advisor, coordinator, evaluator, or designer.

What should I expect?

We create a relaxed and welcoming workshop environment where everyone feels supported and valued.

Our training is designed with a people-first approach, meaning the needs of each individual, especially those with additional needs, come first. We focus on making learning accessible, enjoyable, and practical, allowing participants to work at their own pace, ask questions freely, and build confidence in a safe and inclusive space.

Training takes place two days per week (Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s, roughly 9.30am – 3.30pm), for 6 weeks.

Who can attend?

The course is free to attend and is available to people who are:

  • In receipt of Universal Credit
  • Aged 19+
  • Greater Manchester residents

When and where?

The course will run on Tuesday’s and Wednesdays at Groundwork Office, Ashton-under-Lyne, OL7 0DH.

The first cohort starts on 10th March 2026 (last session on the 22nd April).

The second cohort starts on the 5th May 2026 (last session on the 17th June).
