Groundwork London works with communities across the capital to transform their lives and the places they live. We have been at the forefront of social and environmental regeneration in London for over 25 years, and today we have a simple mission: to create better places, improve people’s prospects, and promote greener living and working. We are passionate about creating a future where every neighbourhood is vibrant and green, every community is strong and able to shape its own destiny, and no-one is held back by their background or circumstance.

In October 2020, the Barnet Health Champion project was initiated in partnership with Public Health, Barnet. The project established a series of communication channels to disseminate COVID-19 guidance and collect local intelligence from community members. In 2022, the project expanded its focus to include wider health topics including mental and physical health, cardiovascular disease prevention and childhood immunisations. Since its launch, the project has registered in excess of 280 Health Champions and enabled accurate COVID-19 and wider health messaging to be shared with communities across Barnet.

The Senior Community Officer, Health is central to the project development and operational delivery. The postholder will lead the analysis of Health Champion demographic data to shape recruitment / outreach strategies; lead the set-up, execution and management of multiple project communication platforms and lead the production of communication assets for example infographics and printed / digital media content. You will build connections and embed the Health Champion project with Public Health, stakeholders, Voluntary, Community and Faith groups and Barnet Together partners.

You will work with the Project Manager to share learning and input into the innovation of the Health Champions project to enable it to evolve and ensure best practice in engagement.
