Duration: April 2027

Background

Thanks to funding from Electricity North West we’re working closely with key partners in Rochdale, including local authorities, VCSFE organisations and community groups, to provide the knowledge and confidence to prepare for, respond to, and recover from a range of climate related emergencies, such as interruptions to power or water supplies, flooding and heatwaves.

Community workshop

What we’re doing

  1. Engaging stakeholders – building on our established relationships from participation in the Climate Emergency Working Group and Climate Co-operators Group, Flood and Coastal Resilience Programme and more, we’ll identify and collaborate with VCFSE organisations to ensure greatest reach.
  2. Raising awareness and sharing knowledge – participating in community events and activities we’ll reach groups that are underrepresented in the climate movement and/or those who are in the most vulnerable situations.
  3. Building confidence and capability building – working closely with community centres, we’ll provide training, information and resources to volunteers so that communities develop greater resilience to severe weather events.
