Aims of the Enabling Strand

To fund capacity building and one-off purchases i.e. training, equipment, infrastructure improvements. The purpose of this strand is to increase the ability and resilience of organisations in Greenwich to prevent/respond to health inequalities. The strand aims to increase skills, training and eligibility to access funding, resources and wider capacity building programmes. 

Applicants will be required to evidence how their purchase will enable them to better prevent/respond to health inequalities and how it aligns with the Greenwich Health and Wellbeing Strategy

What funding is available?

Grants between £500 and £5,000 are available to spend over a suggested 6-month delivery period. There is a maximum of £50,000 available within this grant strand over the year. As grants are awarded, the funding amount available will be updated on this webpage. 

Grants will be paid 80% on award, with 20% being paid in arrears on successful completion of all reporting and monitoring requirements (though alternative payment schedules may be agreed where applicants can evidence a clear need). 

Who can apply?

Applicants must be based in or operating in Greenwich and can be:

  • Educational Establishments
  • Religious Organisations
  • Registered Charity
  • Informal or non-constituted group / Individual (though any such applicant but be supported by a sponsor organisation, who will allow grant monies to be managed through their bank account.)
  • Company Limited by Guarantee
  • Community Interest Company (CIC)
  • Social Enterprise
  • Constituted Community Organisation
  • Friends of Group
  • Tenants and Residents Association

Please note that Companies limited by shares, Local Authorities, GP practices and NHS Trusts, or organisations controlled by any of those organisations, are not eligible to apply.

Timeline

Applications  will be assessed and awards made on a regular basis. The budget will be reviewed at regular periods to determine whether the strand will remain open or pause application submissions in order to ensure equitable and appropriate distribution of grants. Applicants with an in-progress application will be informed and kept up to date via email on whether application submissions will be paused and when they will restart. This page will be updated to reflect when applications are paused.   

We aim for payments to successful applicants to be made within six weeks of an application being submitted. We will inform applicants if there is a delay to this.

We are able to review applications once before they are submitted. This is to ensure the process fair for all applicants. 

Accessibility support: If you need specific assistance to apply for the Enabling Strand, our Accessibility Pot can cover up to £2,000 per applicant for specific assistance required to help you complete the application form, when applications for the Enabling Strand are open. If your Accessibility Pot request is approved, payment will be made once you submit your application to the Enabling Strand and proof of expenditure. You must submit your Accessibility pot request  before  applying to any strand of the Greenwich Healthier Communities Fund. If your Accessibility Pot request is approved, we will contact you via email. Payment will then be made once you submit your application to your chosen strand of the Fund and provide proof of expenditure.
