About the Service

Healthier & Wealthier is a free and confidential service supporting patients in County Durham with money worries, benefits, energy, housing issues, employment problems and family concerns. We offer practical, independent advice to help you understand your options and move forward with confidence.

We are a referral only service, please speak with a member of staff at your GP surgery for a referral if you think we can help you.

Welfare Benefits

Check you’re receiving all the benefits you’re entitled to and support managing your finances.

Housing Issues

We can support if you’re worried about losing your home, problems with rent or issues with your landlord, like getting repairs done.

Energy Support

Support with reducing energy costs, managing bills, and accessing grants.

Employment Issues

We can help with issues such as pay, hours, holidays, contracts and employment rights.

Family & Relationships

Advice on helping you understand what to do when you separate, making child arrangements & seeing if you are entitled to any financial support.

Accessing other Support

Access local services, community support, and activities to improve your wellbeing.

What happens when you’ve been referred

Our admin team will call from a number ending in 6516

We will introduce ourselves, explain the service, take some details about your situation and check for deadlines or emergencies.

We’ll also ask you some wellbeing questions to see how you are feeling then we will arrange for an adviser to call you.
