Connect to Work is a voluntary programme to help tackle economic inactivity by providing a specific form of support targeted at the right people at the right time, based on their individual circumstances.

Our Approach

Connect to Work will deliver the evidence-based Supported Employment model, “place, train, and maintain” via the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) intervention. Primarily aimed at those out of work there is an element of provision for residents in work at risk of losing their job. A fundamental element is to match people into open labour market jobs quickly providing support to employers & the participant to sustain employment.

IPS will provide support for economically inactive people in priority groups who want to work. It is intended to integrate employment support alongside primary & secondary health services & other support services to residents of the North East Combined Authority Region who have a health condition or disability. Priority Groups: Offender or ex-offender – carer or ex-carer – homeless people – former member of the Armed forces – a person for whom drug/alcohol dependency is a barrier to work – care experienced Young Person – a person on the Ukrainian scheme; refugee or resettled Afghan – victim or survivor of domestic abuse – Young People identified as involved or at risk of serious violence – victims of modern slavery.
