Added Social Value
As a charity, Groundwork Greater Manchester exists to deliver lasting social and environmental impact. However, through our procurement commitments, we go further – creating additional benefits for people, communities, and the environment, examples of which are highlighted below:

Local school & college visits
As part of our social value commitments with Trafford Council, we arranged a workplace safari which invited 16 young people, aged 12-13 years, from Lostock Community High School to find out more about the green economy by spending the day with various members of the Groundwork team, gaining introductions to careers in energy efficiency and the natural environment.

Supporting unemployed people into work
As part of our social value commitments with Trafford Council, our Working Wardrobe team provided additional support at Trafford Council’s Job Club support residents with information and guidance around employability; including CV writing and development, job searching techniques and interview skills.

Expert business advice to VCSE
As part of our social value commitments with GMCA, our Strategic Lead for Marketing & Communications supported the Manchester Bolton & Bury Canal Society to develop a refreshed vision statement, identify their annual priorities and improve their offer related to marketing and membership..

Safeguarding the environment
As part of our social value commitments with Trafford Council, we assisted the Eco Club at St Hugh of Lincoln RC Primary School to enhance the biodiversity of an area of their school grounds, building dead hedges to form new habitats for native wildlife.
