Why Get a Smart Meter?
Smart Meters show you what you're spending in pounds and pence; no more estimated bills or supplying meter readings. Smart meters allow you to take control of your energy use, so you can save your energy for other things.
Save your Energy
On average a household with a smart meter saves two percent on their energy bills a year, or 354kWh. That may not sound like much, but it’s enough energy to have 115 hot baths or to listen to your favourite song on a tablet every day for 35 years.
If the whole nation got a smart meter, we could save the same amount of energy as it takes to power every household in Aberdeen, Cardiff and Manchester for a year.
No More Estimated Bills
Everyone in Britain will be offered a smart meter by their energy supplier as part of a national upgrade to our energy system. This means the end of estimated bills. No more having to read the meter or trying to work out your bill. No more strangers coming into your home for meter readings.
Once you have a smart meter, you’ll only get accurate bills from your energy supplier, just like your phone bill.
