Marc’s Story

After three years of awarding funds to local community projects working with unemployed people to move closer to education and employment, ESF Community Grants will close to applications on or before 31 March 2022. We will continue to award grants as applications come in, and if all the funding is allocated before March, the fund will close early.

These funds have been able to help a great many people, one of which was Marc. Marc was helped when he came across Offploy, a Community Interest Company that was awarded an ESF Community Grant.

Marc’s Story

Marc started working with Dave at Offploy after being out of work for just over a year. Marc was disheartened after losing a long term position and his confidence had taken a downwards turn. Marc hadn’t been out of work for over 30 years and was confused what support he could access to help him gain employment.

Marc worked with Dave, and particularly enjoyed the face to face meetings. Dave equipped Marc with the basic tools needed to search for employment, updated his CV, worked on searching skills and how to write a great cover letter. Dave then began to help Marc with confidence building tools, this was helped when Marc started to received positive responses back from his job applications.

Following an interview with a healthcare manufacturing company, Marc was offered a part time position as a warehouse operative. Marc was thrilled as he was ideally looking for a part time role, and is able to cycle to work, saying “I have found the ideal job for me and although it is hard work, I am really enjoying myself!”
