As the community charity with a green heart, we are proud to announce the opening of Unity Brew, a new community café in the heart of Tipton.

A Welcoming Space for All

Unity Brew will serve as a central hub for the local community—a relaxed, informal space where individuals from all backgrounds can connect, share experiences, and take part in community life. The café will host events, workshops, and sessions supporting Groundwork West Midlands projects, while also being available for local charities to deliver their own services or partner with us to support residents.

Promoting Health and Wellbeing

Building on our successful Cook Together Eat Together programme, Unity Brew will play a key role in promoting healthy lifestyles. The café will offer affordable, nutritious meals and foster an environment that encourages positive eating habits and meaningful social interaction. It will also act as a safe, welcoming space that supports mental wellbeing through connection and community engagement.

Unity Brew also boasts a community bookshelf filled with donated books courtesy of the National Literacy Trust providing free books to the local community. By encouraging reading in the local region we hope to encourage young people and adults to pick up reading which has been shown to help boost mental health and wellbeing.

Championing Environmental Sustainability

Environmental sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. Unity Brew will model eco-friendly practices such as using surplus or locally sourced ingredients, minimising food waste, conserving energy, and promoting the use of sustainable products. In the future, the café will link to our environmental initiatives—including urban gardening, food-growing schemes, and nature conservation projects—connecting the community to green spaces and sustainable living.

Developing Skills and Creating Opportunity

Unity Brew will offer practical, skill-building opportunities for local residents through volunteering roles, customer service experience, and food preparation training. The café will also provide structured placements for Restart clients, helping individuals build confidence, gain employability skills, and move closer to sustainable employment.

Giving Back to the Community

As a social enterprise, Unity Brew will reinvest its profits into local community projects. A ‘Pay It Forward’ scheme will allow customers to pre-pay meals for those in need, ensuring everyone has access to nutritious food in a supportive environment.

The café will also be a venue for educational campaigns on sustainability, environmental awareness, and social justice. Through exhibitions, workshops, and community events, we will promote action on key local and global issues—from reducing carbon footprints to building community resilience.
