OUR VISION FOR PEOPLE – Improving life chances and increasing well-being across the communities we serve

Good jobs and good lives, lived well: that is the Groundwork way. As we deliver our programme to 2035 we will focus on people and on addressing the root causes of poverty and ill health.

Our education and skills offer will be inclusive, flexible and inspiring, helping people of all ages and backgrounds move towards meaningful, rewarding work. Our mentoring and coaching services will support people with the greatest need, while our energy advisers will help households facing fuel poverty to make homes warmer and more affordable.

Across all of our services for people, we will apply a green lens. This means using connection with nature to support wellbeing; preparing people for employment in the green economy; and strengthening climate and nature literacy across Greater Manchester.

What will success look like?

Routes into work

We will expand locality-based employment and wellbeing coaching and mentoring services for adults, integrated within Live Well hubs and spaces, enabling people of all ages to secure and sustain good work.

Green learning hubs

In partnership with local providers, we will deliver local education and learning hubs for young people aged 14–19. Established in areas of greatest need, these hubs will offer well-resourced, progression focused
alternative and flexible education alongside complementary youth work. Learners will build core and technical skills, improve their health and wellbeing, and develop stronger connections with nature and their communities.

Construction & skills for the green economy

Across Greater Manchester, we will provide green careers advice and construction and green skills, enabling young people and adults to start
or progress in a green career regardless of their starting point. Our focus will include landscape management for nature recovery and climate
resilience, energy and water efficiency and low carbon homes.

Green Doctor energy advice

We will maintain and grow our comprehensive, flexible Green Doctor energy advice service, delivered in homes and communities to meet
the needs of people who are most socially and economically vulnerable.
