East of England

Do you like gardening and want to help local people in need?

Then volunteer at your local community garden in Luton and help us to harvest this year’s crops that will be donated to crisis services.

If you are a keen gardener with time to spare, community charity Groundwork East needs your help with harvesting at their food growing hubs. During the summer the hubs have been busy growing a range of fresh fruit and vegetables, including tomatoes, courgettes, leeks and beans.

The produce is ready to harvest and we need your help to bring in the fresh food and get it ready to take to Luton food bank.

Our gardens are situated in three locations:

  • Memorial Park, West Hill Road LU1 3LZ
  • Strathmore Avenue Methodist church, off Kingsland Road LU1 3NZ
  • St John the Baptist church, Rotheram Avenue, Farley area LU1 5PP

They are open weekly on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between now and the end of October.  Call us on 07702 941445 to find out opening times and to book a time to attend.

The community food growing hubs are part of Groundwork’s work as chair of the Luton Food Poverty Alliance – bringing organisations together to tackle food poverty. Find out more about our work with the Luton Food Poverty Alliance here: www.lutonfoodhub.co.uk
