Iver Environment Centre

Iver Environment Centre is a 4.5 acre oasis located in the Colne Valley between Uxbridge and Slough. We established the centre in 1990 in partnership with the National Grid to champion environmental education in the region. Over the past three decades, thanks to the invaluable support of local businesses and hundreds of dedicated volunteers, the space has blossomed into a thriving outdoor classroom boasting a number different habitats, gardens and activity zones including our rainforest zone, orchard, woodlands, raised ponds, beehives and community allotments. We also have three indoor classrooms and a large kitchen in our purpose built log cabin.

Environmental Education
We offer a range of KS1 & KS2 education programmes and activities for Primary School children. Our skilled and experienced educators deliver engaging, hands on learning activities, encouraging children to exploring and understand the natural world and apply their scientific enquiry skills.

We also run a packed programme of fun and educational holiday activities for children and families, including pond dipping, mini-beast hunts, woodland survival, den building and crafts. The possibilities are endless.

‘A lovely hidden gem’
“Iver Environment Centre is a lovely place to spend an hour or two with your little ones. We went during Halloween week and they had different activities organised for each day. It was a crisp, sunny autumn day, perfect to explore the grounds and follow the trails and clues for the hunt we were on. Good access for pushchairs and wheelchairs. Clearly equipped for small groups of school children or for children’s parties. The staff member there was very friendly and helpful.”
Employee Volunteering
Our large site requires a lot of maintenance and the occasional big landscaping job to keep it safe and looking good for our visitors. We’re always looking for new business partners in the region who would like to offer us their valuable support. The site is perfect for employee volunteering. Your employees can get their hands dirty in a fun teambuilding activity day and at the end of the session, know that they’ve made a real difference to countless children and families in the local community. We’re also keen to develop partnerships with builders merchants, DIY stores and garden centres, who can support us by gifting materials on an on-going or ad-hoc basis. Get in touch to discuss an action packed employee volunteering day.
Individual Volunteering
Do you love gardening, food-growing and nature but don’t have the space to get your hands dirty? We’re keen to grow our committed group of local nature centre volunteers, who enjoy spending time maintaining and developing the site, individually and in groups. You can spend as much or as little time as you can with us after an initial induction. It’s also a great way to meet people, socialise and learn new skills. If you’re interested in volunteering contact us.
Private hire of the centre and outdoor spaces
We offer dry or catered private hire of the centre and the surrounding green spaces. Whether you’re an events company, community group, or are looking for a truly unique venue for a one off special occasion contact us to discuss your private hire requirements.
