Mary's Thank You Letter

The following is a transcript from a hand written letter submitted by Brinnington resident Mary, regarding her recent experience at the Green Thumbs community allotment, a project organised by Brinnington Big Local:

The Health & Wellbeing sessions in Brinnington came at a time when I needed it the most, so did my sister.

Being elderly and not being able to go out, this was the first place I had been out to socially in over 18 months. It was friendly and there was a lot of nice people of all ages.

Although we were learning about planting, it wasn’t that they kept me going back for more, it was the peace of Green Thumbs itself. Thank heaven I went on it! It was about four weeks in when it released the beast inside me; I wanted and needed to garden! Fortunately, I was able to get a plot at Green Thumbs.

Because we all got on so well, on a Saturday morning Natter in Nature was born. This is where anyone can call in, have a natter, and put the world to right.

Green Thumbs is my haven; I go along with my flask and lunch quite often with a friend or a good book. I can honestly say, had I not gone to the Health & Wellbeing Day that first Saturday I would most probably still be sat in the house most days.

Thank you to Julie & Lucy for running it.

This is what is needed in Brinnington.
