Alternative Education
Flexible, Creative, Education
Alternative Education incorporates various approaches to learning and teaching that differ from mainstream or conventional education. It aims to address the needs of learners who are marginalised by the traditional system, or who have different learning styles, interests, values, or goals. Alternative Education offers more flexibility, creativity, autonomy and diversity in the curriculum and the educational setting.
Raising prospects and aspirations
We work with schools across South and North Tyneside to provide Alternative Education that has successfully engaged pupils with land based education activities, helping to gain skills in animal care and practical work, building confidence and raising aspirations.
We noted a drastic change in levels of engagement and behaviour when the pupils were engaging with the animals across the farm.”

Unique Learning Experiences
Our Alternative Education programmes are tailored to meet the needs of each individual learner. We work with teachers, parents and support workers to develop engaging sessions delivered at Jarrow Hall Farm and West Boldon Lodge Community Green Hub, to provide enriched outdoor learning experiences.
It’s all about ‘small wins’ with this group of children and being able to give them an engaging task which they felt was rewarding, is a positive outcome.
